Prax Capital, established in 2003, is an independent private equity firm dedicated to managing China-focused investments. Our Chinese and Western partners form a cohesive team with complementary backgrounds and experience in the entrepreneurial, industrial and financial fields in Asia, the Americas and Europe. We have on average more than 15 years of hands-on manufacturing, operational, managerial and investment experience in Greater China. Our execution team is based in Shanghai and as of 2009 includes twenty Chinese professionals with extensive investment experience in Mainland China.

The name of our firm, Prax, comes from the Greek word praxis which means action, deeds. We seek proactively adding and creating value for our invested companies and partners.

Prax Capital manages two classes of funds: growth capital and real estate. In addition to our USD funds, Prax was among the first four foreign firms granted approval to manage RMB denominated funds by the Shanghai Pudong New Area Government. We successfully raised our first RMB denominated real estate fund with commitments of RMB 600MM (US$ 88MM) and our first RMB denominated growth capital fund with commitments of RMB 600MM (US$ 88MM).

Our growth capital funds invest typically in minority stakes in growth-stage companies that have the potential to be listed in a public stock market within three years of our investment. Our focused sectors include but not limited to clean-tech, retail & consumer, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism and industrial manufacturing.

Our real estate fund partners with leading local and regional developers with a focus on residential projects, normally in second-tier cities.
